DÉBRUIT

(Pronounced: day-brie; from the French debris – broken glass & bruit – noise) Parisian Synth Magician dÉbruit and his melee of jack-knifing riddims, booby trapped syncopation and bass heavy collisions comes to Vancouver for his first time.

His music is a no holds barred assault through dark Congolese sound systems, downtown L.A. block parties gone wrong, haze filled Kingston recording studios and freaky Tunisian backstreet souks; all powered by a fat hip hop engine that will make your body happy.

dÉbruit has pedigree. His sell out Let’s Post Funk 3D EP featured Om’Mas Keith (….of Sa-RA and P Diddy and MTV’s Making the Band ) and followed 2 sensational EPs Coupe Décale and most recently Cle De Bras w/Daedelus on his and his hommies Parisian label Musique Large and a raft of support from the Global Hip Hop Fraternity.

Two new EPs already in 2010; The much hyped “Spatio Temporel Ep” feat the unmistakeable Nigeria What? And his Haiti Earthquake Reflief Fund Charity Release “Heart Beats For Haiti” have cemented his Beat Konducta status. With a much hyped album being recorded around the world as we speak watch out for it and a new full band live show in spring 2011. And be sure to give respect for the 3D artwork, 3D Videos and branding By RainbowMonkey which are out there for all to see.

After recently relocating to London UK the French Rhythm Wizard made Europe & Beyond his playground, touring his Impressive Live Show throughout the US (incl headline slot at SXSW), CA, UK, France, Germany, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Russia and tearing up the festival circuit along side Skream, Busy P, Benga, Afrika Bambaataa, Anti Pop Consortium, Kid Cudi and many more. Now returned to his Ouest coast studio he’s holed up delivering remixes for Black Devil Disco Club, Zero7, Grovesnor (Hot Chip), Rusko, Lee Scratch Perry, Architeq, Kotchy, Meanest Man Contest and more, as well as making beats that have grabbed Q-Tip’s ears and most importantly preparing an album project that takes in travels to studios in Kinshasa (Congo) and an all new live experience.

Internationally things are already strong for dÉbruit. Features and Front Covers in the major Hip Hop, Electronic and Culture Publications in UK, Japan, Australia, Germany, France, Russia and more. With regular West Coast Support at XLR8R and at Fader for his exciting US live debut at SXSW the world is prepared for the delivery of his debut groundbreaking album. (Thank us for the heads up later)

We all know its in a Congolese basement bar down a Paris side-street is where you’ll now find dÉbruit dropping beats and preparing his instrumentation for his travels. It’s a long way from his 2009 trip to Red Bull’s academy in Barcelona and a different musical journey but one that will surely propel him even further into the history books.

PRISON GARDE

fka Megasoid, Sixtoo, S&N, Six Vicious, Villain Accelerate, Sebutones

Prison Garde is the new working musical moniker of Vaughn Robert Squire. A man of many passions and creative outlets (he currently works as a Gallery Curator, Creative Agency Director, Graphic and Motion Designer, Soundtrack and Short Film Producer in addition to the more obvious DJ/Producer/Remixer titles). He strives for a balance between Arts and Industry / Crafts and Culture / Music and Mayhem in all his creative pursuits.

Founder of Montreal's most notorious party franchises (Bridge Burner, Turbo Crunk) while maintaining a steady string of appearances at nights such as Cassette (N.Y.) while headlining at festivals such as Mutek, Decibel, L.O.L.A, Nuit Blance, SXSW, NXNE, etc, He is no stranger to rocking crowds worldwide with a midi controller, laptop and synth.

Robert found himself in Vancouver a little more than a year ago and hit the ground running, working with Alex 'Rhek' Usow and Mark Brand as his partners, opening the Gastown-based Catalog Gallery (home to Catalog Pirate Radio and Catalog Creative Agency) he also has found himself in (yet another) moniker / musical change.

Prison Garde is a more club friendly + sexy take on the music he was doing under the Megasoid moniker, and it is additionally a collaboration with himself and light/film artist Peter Hagge (who helps to contribute visual content to provide a seamless time-sync'd A/V experience in the live performance setting).

Expect a Nouveau Palais EP for spring on a label you all should be familiar with (shhh!) and a string of Prison Garde releases to follow shortly after.

NIÑA MENDOZA

Niña is the best kind of DJ. A perfect balance of musical snob and open minded DJ she rocks parties with a ton of finesse and direction. She simultaneously respects music's history and pushes new sounds with an encyclopedic knowlege of good music, great dj skills and a fantastic wardrobe (hah!).

Her recent appearances at shows such as Hudson Mohawke, DaM-FunK, Onra, Lazer Sword & Jimmy Edgar have firmed her position as go-to-mood-setter for avant/beat nights. Expect an eclectic set that will span from old Classic Electro to Boogie to 80's Soul to R&B and Modern/Sexy Laptop Heaters, before eventually screaming with excitement before nights end. She loves music. She plays it well.
